Olympie Grèce

Olympia est une ville du Péloponnèse. C'était le site des jeux olympiques originaux. Les jeux, tenus tous les quatre ans en l'honneur du dieu grec Zeus, durèrent pendant tout l'âge classique. Le sanctuaire central ou Altis comprenait des temples, des autels, des sanctuaires et des bâtiments publics à des fins religieuses et profanes. La flamme de chaque jeu olympique moderne est toujours allumée dans la ville, par un reflet de la lumière du soleil dans un miroir parabolique, et transportée par une torche jusqu’au lieu où se dérouleront les jeux.
